Exercise 2.3

The Keirsey Temperament Sorter defined me as an Extraverted Feeling with Introverted Intuition (ENFJ). ENFJ’s are typically warm, compassionate, and supportive. When I think of a quality social worker, these characteristics come to mind. They will help me be empathetic, which will show my clients that I truly care about their current situation. ENFJ’s are also creative and imaginative. This will help me in avoiding burnout, by coming up with innovative ways to connect with clients, instead of using the same method every time which can become mundane.

Also, ENFJ’s are expressive, responsive, and persuasive. This can be very useful when working with a collaborative learning group. I will be able to respond to my group members in a positive way, as well as express my own opinions and ideas. My temperament type also enjoys a variety of new challenges. This is essential in becoming a lifelong learner. By accessing new information, I can find new ways to challenge myself as a professional. ENFJ’s are also characterized as being sociable, personable, congenial, and gracious. This will help me with networking in the professional world. If I can build great relationships with co-workers, I will give myself a better chance to move up the ladder at any agency I am employed at.
