Early Childhood Lesson on Leaves (Preschool)

During my Special Education Block placement, I taught a lesson on fall leaf shapes and colors that incorporated Universal Design for Learning principles and met the needs of a diverse group of children. The children created their own leaf books to learn about different leaf shapes and colors. Each child did four different leaf rubbings in their leaf book. The preschool classroom consisted of eight typical students and three students with special needs. The activity was designed so that each student was able to participate and learn. There was constant communication with the children during this lesson, so that all the students would be successful and meet the lesson objectives. I believe that communicating with students is an integral aspect of any lesson and should be done throughout the lesson.
