"Effects of Pesticides" 5E Lesson Plan

In this 5E lesson plan, essential questions align with standards-based objectives and guide instruction.  The fourth-grade inquiry lesson includes Engagement in a food chain activity, Exploration through a food web game and class discussion, Explanation during class discussion, Elaboration through a small-group research activity, and Evaluation of students’ performance using a rubric.  In each part, students assume an active role in the learning process.

The plan also includes transitions to smoothly redirect students' focus from one part of the lesson to another.  Effective transitions increase instructional time.
