Domain 3: Instruction
Most teachers are proficient in developing lesson plans that address student needs and align with district and state standards. However, to teach well one must incorporate a multitude of instructional strategies to ensure that students are taking a fair share of responsibility for their own learning. The mark of a great teacher is when she views her students not as empty vessels that need to be filled with knowledge, but rather as students whom she needs to inspire to want to learn. To do this, a teacher must engage students with the material and explain it in a coherent and flexible manner to meet the needs of all students.
