Characteristics of the Sun Lesson Plan
In the following lesson, I introduced students to the topic of the Sun. The focus of the lesson was not only to teach students about the characteristics and parts of the sun, but to engage students to think about their own thought processes. In order to accomplish this goal, I read a book to students about the Sun. As I read, I used a T-chart to keep track of facts that I read, and what I was thinking of or wondered about as I was reading those facts. After thinking aloud for students, I asked the students to tell me their thoughts about what we were reading. I incorporated a variety of questioning techniques into this lesson which fostered many discussions among students on stimulating ideas about the Sun.
