Before any schooling can be accomplished, I must first establish a classroom environment that is conducive to learning. The dynamic of my classroom is warm and inviting. I will create a welcoming and supportive environment in which children feel comfortable trying new things, and sharing their ideas. Curiosity, cooperation, and mutual respect are all concepts that I emphasize in my teaching. As Emerson reveals in the quote above, if I expect to get respect from my students, I must be willing to show them respect as well. It is equally important to foster reverence amongst peers. I wish to have not just a classroom, but also a community of teachers and learners.
I sincerely hope that my enthusiasm for learning will encourage students to be excited to come to school each day. My classroom is a place where students feel motivated to work hard and put fourth their best efforts. Each child will take pride in being a valued member of our classroom team.
