TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Field Placement

Lower Dauphin High School                                                                                      September 2015

  • I observed the ninth through eleventh grade classroom that taught history and government and I engaged with the students about the subject, observed student-teacher relations, and learned about the classroom environment, as well as secondary teaching practices.

Field Placement

Elizabethtown Nursery School                                                                                               October 2015

  • I observed the early education classroom and engaged with the students in active play as well as learned how to keep the environment/classroom a safe place for them during the lesson and their playtime.

Field Placement

Elizabethtown-Area Middle School                                                                           November 2015

  • I observed a seventh grade science room and learned the importance of planning ahead, learned the importance of creating notes/guides for students, helped with classroom experiments, and learned how to engage students with one another in order to build up their social skills.

Field Placement

Manheim Township Middle School                                                                January 2016- April 2016

  • I observed an eighth grade classroom where I saw the importance of student-teacher professional relations as well as the importance of having engaging, fun lessons in the classroom. I grade projects and papers as well as help students who have questions about their current tasks or the lesson itself.

Field Placement

Elizabethtown-Area High School

February 2017- Present

  • I observed and worked with children in an autism support room. I have learned the importance of special education in the school system and have seen various methods to dealing with various learning needs. I help students with tasks that may not be easy for them on their own (like cooking, cleaning, working with their hands, and some academics), all the while learning how I can better myself and my teaching methods to educate not only typical children, but children with special needs as well. This placement has also taught me to be more patient and understanding with all students.
