This lesson plan demonstrates the use of many different tools to develop an engaging and active learning atmosphere. Engaging student in learning is very effective when using multiple activities and assignments in a lesson. Using current topics is a way of sparking their interest and using instructional materials and resources that go along with the topic are all ways to engage the learner.
Through newspapers, online sources and a video clip this lesson provides diverse students the type of instruction they require. I chose this lesson plan because it is a hot topic in the news today; something that my students are living through. They are able to relate to it. I think it is important to instruct students on information that pertains to their lives.
