Domain 3

   Instruction

Danielson's third domain of teaching is instruction.  I personally believe that this third domain is the heart of teaching.  It is the teacher's responsibility and role to carry out the performances of the following acts:  communicating clearly and correctly, practicing questioning and discussing skills, having students engaged in learning, presenting feedback to students, and showing flexibilty and responsiveness.  To fulfill communicating clearly, it is critical that direction and procedure are to the point and comprehendible.  Being prepared to ask questions and to have discussions shows one personal communication skills and also opens the door to thriving class discussions.  Being prepared for a lesson allows even more student engagement, activities, resources, and structure.  Providing feedback to students helps them even more with their personal growth in learning.  It provides them with specifics and accuracy of information.  It is important for teachers to be prepared for anything that could happen during a lesson.  The lesson may or may not go as planned, but one still has to act quickly and to be able to make adjustments.  A teacher must also be prepared to answer any sort of questions a student may have.
