I have always been a hardworking student that strives to do their best on a daily basis. A bubbly personality has always helped me to get along well with others. I am a fast learner and have the ability to empathize with others. While in high school, I had plans to become an Occupational Therapist. I had a strong desire to work with the geriatric population from a young age. I have always looked to the elderly as very wise human beings that have a lot to offer to the younger generation of people.

Being an Occupational Therapist is a great career but I wanted to find something that was more rewarding. I always had an interest in the health field so I began searching for a major that would offer versatility and fulfillment. Social Work was everything I wanted in a career and I am pleased to have made the decision to declare Social Work as my major.

I began interning at the Masonic Villages’ Health Care Center Fall of my junior year. Working with the elderly always brings me great joy and helps to put a smile on my face. It takes a strong person to work with geriatrics because death can occur quite frequently. Knowing that a majority of my residents have experienced fulfilling lives, I am able to accept the fact that death is a natural thing.
