Welcome to my education portfolio!

My name is Elizabeth Martin and I am a Senior Music Education Major here at Elizabethtown College. While studying to become a music teacher, I am also an active performer on the flute and the bass both solo and with many performing groups. In addition to be a performer, I also am an active member of the Pennsylvania Collegiate Music Education Association and attend conferences and sessions to better my pedagogical skills in the classroom. My passion for music, learning, and teaching are very strong and I bring all of this to the classroom.

I believe in a student-centered classroom with differentiated instruction in order to accommodate and promote learning. It is my goal  to provide varied mediums in which students can express themselves while also building their musical knowledge base  to further their analytical, expressive, improvisatory, evaluative, and performing skills. I am experienced in all grades from Pre-K-12 in general, instrumental, and choral settings that are inclusive of diverse learning styles and cultural differences. I also feel comfortable speaking and reading conversational Spanish, facilitating a strong rapport and line of communication with Hispanic and Latino families. Accumulated here in my portfolio are artifacts that showcase my philosophy on teaching and classroom management, as well as how I use technology in the classroom to support student learning.
