Senior Level Methods of Science Education: 8th Grade General Science

Lower Dauphin Middle School, Hummelstown, PA      October 2018 – November 2018

  • Interacted with all 6 classes in an 8th Grade regular education general science class
  • Routinely taught lessons that were planned out by the cooperating teacher
  • Planned and delivered own lesson plan on Newton’s Second law of motion  

 

Senior Level English Language Learners Experience: Middle Level Math

Rowland Academy, Harrisburg, PA                          October 2018 – November 2018

  • Worked one on one with 8th grade English Learners as the class worked on math computer program Mathia
  • Assisted teacher in monitoring students to keep them on task
  • Interacted with both English Learners and students in an urban school for 2.5 hours a week for 10 weeks

 

Specialized Educational Fieldwork  

Elizabethtown College, Elizabethtown, PA                 October 2017 – December 2017

  • Worked alongside another student to continue the educational path for a 25-year-old man with non-verbal, low-functioning autism
  • Created lesson plans to determine how to teach my lessons about music, science, and physical education
  • Gained skills in creating backup plans in case things did not go as planned, as well as learning how to communicate and pick up behaviors/interests of a student

Elizabethtown High School, Elizabethtown, PA        September 2017 – November 2017

  • Observed high school level special education classroom for students (grades 9-11th) requiring learning support
  • Assisted main teacher along with 3 other assistant teachers in assisting the education of students in topics such as math and reading
  • Developed a strong rapport with students by consistently interacting with the students and rewarding the students for their hard work

  • Observed high school level biology
  • Interacted with students to learn more about what they were doing and improve their understanding of the class work
  • Facilitated biology labs and assisted teacher whenever needed

  • Observed high school level chemistry and science fair preparation (9-12th grade)
  • Help students with their brainstorming of science fair ideas

  • Observed middle school level natural science (8th grade)
  • Answered any questions the students had and facilitated learning through the monitoring of students during group work time

Physics/Calculus/Engineering Tutoring

Elizabethtown College, Elizabethtown, PA                               January 2016 – Present

  • Mentored and taught first and second year engineering students in various subjects. Worked with students until all their questions and clarifications were answered.
  • Averaged 5-6 hours a week of work. Managed between 1-30 students per session.

 

Physics Tutoring (Learning Services Center)

Elizabethtown College, Elizabethtown, PA                           September 2016 – Present

  • Assisted students in a private tutoring session in either mechanical or electrical physics
  • Filled out and filed necessary paperwork for each student who requested tutoring
  • Averaged 2-3 hours of work a week
  • Sessions were mostly one-on-one, but some sessions were group tutoring times

Physics Teaching Assistant

Elizabethtown College, Elizabethtown, PA                               January 2016 – Present

  • Graded lab reports, prepared mechanics and electromagnetic physics labs, and assisted students completing the lab.
  • Organized meetup times for students who had missed lab
  • Typically worked 8 hours a week for preparation, grading, and assisting during the lab period.
