Establishing a Culture of Learning:

Kindergarten Read-Aloud Lesson: At Scott Elementary, students demonstrated active participation during a choral reading of Brown Bear, Brown Bear. Before reading the book, instructional outcomes were stated when I explained that they would sequence picture cards of the animals and colors in the book.  Students took initiative in choosing a picture card of the colors and animals in the book to sequence during the appropriate time following the book.  Students took attention to detail by accurately sequencing the picture cards in the correct order that they occurred in the story.  Students showed pride in their work by enthusiastically participating in the sequencing activity.
