5th Grade Language Arts: Reader's Theater
In this week-long unit, students were cognitively engaged in the assignment of practicing and performing Reader’s Theater plays. Students enthusiastically explored content by adapting knowledge of literary “tone” to personify characters! They focused on writing character and play summaries to "get into" their characters. The instructional groups assigned worked cooperatively and thoroughly on their presentation, initiating the creation of props and materials. They also determined the formation and location of their stage, with groups utilizing several parts of the room to enhance learning.
