Cornerstone Youth Center | Spring 2016

  • Volunteered with an after-school mentorship program for local middle and high school students. The purpose of the center is to encourage students to come to a safe place after school where they can have fun and receive mentorship. I go once a week to the youth center to help students with their homework and to play games with them. 

ED 105: Preschool| December 2015

  • Gained experience by working one-on-one with preschoolers at different “play stations”, assisted teacher at recess and snack time; I observed interactions between teacher, aides, and students

  • Gained experience by observing teacher’s methods of lecture, assisted students working in small groups at different lab tables, guided students to complete experiments and lab reports

Into the Streets | Fall 2015, Fall 2016

  • Participated in this Elizabethtown annual tradition, in which students go into the town community and complete acts of service; I worked with the Elizabethtown Spanish Education Club to teach children in Elizabethtown about the Spanish language and culture, as well as with Ed Org to decorate Halloween crafts

  • Elected to Public Relations officer for the 2017-2018 school year; participated in a number of different events, including serving meals at a local Ronald McDonald House, building floats for a college-wide parade and volunteering in a community fair for children

Lekotek Compuplay Computer Camp | June 2010 - June 2015, Fall 2013

 

  • Volunteered to work with children (aged 3-10) with intellectual and physical disabilities in a week-long camp, helped set up crafts, computer games, and music time; planned Halloween party for a fall session of this camp in the fall of 2013

  • Taught PreK Sunday school at local church; responsibilities included putting together lesson plans, managing a class of 10-15 four-year-olds, assisting with crafts and activities and serving snacks
