Domain 2: Classroom Environment

The setup and atmosphere of a classroom can have a vital role on the students within it. Simply, it is important that the room is structured in a way that promotes learning and is free from distractions. Students cannot be comfortable in a clustered room where there is no sense of order and they will not be able to do what is necessary for them to learn. I cannot imagine being in a classroom where I am afraid to ask a teacher a question. In addition, the classroom is often a safe haven for many students. To them, it is an escape from any problems at home and is only that much more important that the classroom is welcoming to the students and to learning.
