maybe we should teach the way they learn."

Hello! Welcome to the Special Education portion of my E-Portfolio. Currently, I am student teaching in an Emotional/Learning Support (ES/LS) classroom in a K-2 building. Ever since I was little, I knew I wanted to be a teacher. I have always loved working with children and after having various field placements in early childhood/special education settings, I have since strengthened my love and passion for this profession. I believe all children can succeed, no matter the circumstance. Teachers are essential in providing students with a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for learning.

Throughout this section, you will find artifacts that reflect my

goals when teaching students in special education. My goals include:

  1. Creating a Collaborative Culture - create/modify student-learning opportunities, have open communication, and form partnerships with teachers, staff, and families
  2. Continuous Growth Mindsetmake time for student reflection, provide feedback, maintain measurable success, listen to/reflect on parental input, and include mindfulness teaching
  3. Safe School Environment - provide positive learning opportunities, reinforce students learning to respect others, strengthen positive behaviors, and reinforce supports for student
  4. Love of Learning - design relevant/relatable learning experiences, creative-learning activities, routine, consistency, hold students accountable and maintain student safety-nets
