Interactive Math Applet (1g)

I had the opportunity to create a lesson for second graders in which I created an interactive lesson plan which utilized technology as a major part of the lesson. I chose to focus on the essential question of, “How do we understand the concept of fourths and halves in relation to fractions?” Students had the opportunity to use an internet applet in which they designed flags using fractions given by the computer, such as “Design a flag using halves.” Students used the mouse to color the flags different colors by the given fractions. I felt this artifact fell under demonstrating knowledge of technology, designing instruction, setting instructional goals, demonstrating knowledge of resources, and designing assessment.
