Functional Behavioral Assessment (2d)
During my Special Education Block, I was provided the opportunity to observe and work with a third grade student with autism in my fieldwork. Choosing to focus on the target behavior of hand flapping, I created and followed a Functional Behavioral Assessment on the student. Using certain assessments and my observations, I was able to suggest intervention strategies and determine the need for the behavior as a means of sensory stimulation. This project allowed me to develop and manage student behaviors used by my student, and to manage classroom procedures and ways for my student to receive the sensory stimulation she needed.
