Direct Instruction Lesson Plan: 2nd/3rd Grade Autistic Support Classroom (3b)
In my Special Education fieldwork with students with autism in second grade, I was able to create a Direct Instruction lesson plan to accommodate to his weakness in comprehension. In focusing on comprehension, I developed a Direct Instruction lesson plan solely for this individual centering on the use of a picture walk when reading a story. After implementing the lesson plan during class to my student, I followed with a reflection on each part of the lesson. Through this artifact, I covered the criteria of using assessment in instruction, using questioning and discussion techniques while teaching, as well as communication with my student.
