This lesson was taught in a resource room to seven intermediate grade students who receive reading instruction. The focus of this lesson was for the students think to themselves on how efficiently they comprehend a story. Accommodations were provided to the students to help guide their learning. Pictures of the main character were shown to the students to help them better relate to the story. For assessing their comprehension skills, a list of questions about the story “Leaving Her Mark” were given. The students had to use the strategy of POQIA (Part Of Question In Answer) to answer the questions.
