This science demonstration was done in my methods science course. The purpose is to introduce the students to a new concept in science that future lessons will be based on. In this demonstration, the focus is impulse, air pressure, and surface area. A series of questions are asked to guide the lesson followed by an explanation of the outcome of the experiment. A discrepant event is demonstrated so the students can correct their misconceptions about a concept. In this discrepant event, the main student misconception is overlooking impulse.
