Artifact #4

This lesson was taught in a fourth grade classroom at Rheems Elementary School during my methods block semester.  The lesson was a continuation of a story from the Houghton Mifflin Reading Company.  The skill the students have been working on related to this story was classifying and categorizing information.  Before the lesson, I had a review game with the students on the story’s key vocabulary.  The design of the review game involved the use of flyswatters so the students were physically engaged and learning their vocabulary simultaneously.  Following the lesson is a sample of a student’s work on the classifying and categorizing skill and two evaluations; one by my clinical supervisor and the other by my cooperating teacher.
