Apple Orchard Field Trip

As part of my student teaching experience, I had the opportunity to help plan the second grade field trip. Throughout my preparation to become an educator, field trips have always been one area that are not often discussed or practiced. I was nervous to plan the field trip for our class, but it is a necessary experience for any educator. After filling out the proper district forms and spending much time reviewing safety and respect procedures for the actual trip to the orchard, the field trip was very successful. The students had a great time and the trip provided many opportunities inside the classroom for lessons in writing, reading, social studies, and even math. Connecting the field trip to what the students were learning in the classroom  kept them engaged in their learning.
