The science classroom must be a positive space where learning and growth can occur. Within the first days of school, I attempt to cultivate a community where the students feel safe and secure as they investigate and explore the curriculum. By establishing respect and rapport with and between students, the students are able to collaboratively work together. The main goal of our classroom is for each student to be valued for their contributions and participation within and outside the classroom. In addition, the behavior expectations for the students are based upon the same issue of respect for everyone and their opportunities to learn.
